A certified gemmologist (FGA and DGA of The Gemmological Association of Great Britain) and Fellow of the Institute of Registered Valuers, she began her own appraisal practice after 18 years of valuing at prestigious companies in the UK, including Fellows Auctioneers and Plants the Jewellers. She says, "I fell in love with the jewellery industry very early on and quite by accident! I was very fortunate to be inspired by having a really good employer. By the age of twenty, I became one of the youngest Registered Valuers in the UK. Then, I worked hard to build up my experience and continued to achieve as many qualifications as I possibly could."
Based in Staffordshire, Heather Callaway prepares valuations which are totally independent, she does not buy or sell and offers a fixed price structure in which the fees are not linked in any way to the value of the items. Appraisals are carried out for all types of jewellery items to include, watches, gemstones and diamonds, from modest collections to high-end collector′s items. Adding a sense of security to clients who understandably do not want to be parted from their jewellery during the valuation process, Heather offers a home service for private clients, viewing in the comfort and privacy of the home, and in their presence. Her work sees her travel to solicitor′s offices and safety deposit boxes, wherever required by the client. She also works with various jewellery establishments either hosting valuation days, where appointments are scheduled ahead for appraising and reporting, or a drop-off and collect service can be available this allows you to take your jewellery into your local jewellers to be examined on-site by Heather Callaway or with prior authority the items can be securely delivered to her.
